What is an in-law suite? It's the most common name for a small living space in a single-family home, where an aging family member (or others) can live with some modicum of privacy and independence.

Floorplan with in-law suite

Approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population lives in a multi-generational home, meaning three or more generations share the same household. As assisted living costs continue to rise, older Americans are choosing to move in with their children and grandkids. But instead of taking the spare bedroom upstairs, they’re moving into their own private in-law suite.

Think CUSTOM; we’ve been assisting our customers for years to design and build exactly what they need. As we get older, so do our parents. They cared for us when we were young and many families now want to help their aging relatives. Whether it be a simple space with sitting, bed and bath that is ‘accessible’ to the main house; or a full independent living area with kitchen, bath, laundry, living and sleeping areas, Jensen Quality Homes has met the specific requirements for our clients.

Our first ‘In-Law Living Area’ was built in 2004. This first ‘In-Law Living’ design won a Certificate of Commendation from the Rutherford County Homebuilders and featured its own kitchen, laundry, sitting area, fireplace, bed and bathroom. Over the years we’ve collaborated with a number of clients to design all types of different ‘In-Law Living’ spaces.

There are code and zoning requirements that vary from various jurisdictions, but we are experienced at working with local requirements.

Customer Quote

We had the great pleasure of working with Jensen Quality Homes to build our very own custom home and we feel that they truly are the very best in the business! They have a solid reputation for delivering an excellent product and did not disappoint. From the moment we signed the contract up through the final walk-through, their team went above and beyond to make our dream home a reality. The process along the way was extremely smooth and well laid out.

Their quick response to questions and concerns made what could have easily become a stressful and exhausting process, really fun and exciting! They even met us several times at the job site for consultation without ever making us feel as if we were being burdensome.

Our new home is more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident at every turn and we look forward to living here and enjoying this home for many years to come! We would highly recommend Jensen Quality Homes to anyone wanting to build a custom home.
